Jacob, Madeleine and I left last Wednesday night to head to New York to visit Papa and Granny and celebrate Jacob's birthday. The flight was a long one and for the first time ever (Maddie has flown 4 times now) she wouldn't sleep and was a bit of a handful. We got in late so we went straight to bed but got up bright and early on Thursday to show Madeleine the city. She loved looking out the windows and would look out and laugh....not sure why but it was cute.
"Hey! Where are we?"
Granny and Papa's view
Maddie picks up anything (a coaster in this pic) and uses it as a phone. She talks, pauses, and laughs just like she is really on the phone!
It looks like Buck is scolding her but he is singing "No more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!"
Granny and Papa babysat Maddie a lot for us, which was a win-win situation for us all!
What Jacob didn't know when we arrived in NY is that Mike and Sarah would be making the trip to surprise him on Friday at lunch for the whole weekend! Jacob and I arrived at his favorite lunch place and there were the Parker's with Buck. Jacob was shocked and so excited!

The Freedom Tower
Reading about 9/11
We walked through Greenwich Village and stopped for a drink
We stumbled on the store where Jacob's got his banjo
That night we headed to Del Frisco's for dinner and Madeleine had her first cab ride. She had her first subway ride on Thursday and she was pretty scared. On the way back it was better and as the weekend progressed she eventually got used to it and was totally fine.
After dinner the 4 of us headed to "Jersey Boys", which was the last of Jacob's birthday surprises
On Saturday after a yummy brunch at Delta Grill we headed up to Central Park
The Plaza Hotel
Daddy and Madeleine in front of FAO Schwarz
That night we went out for Mexican and then headed to the Comedy Cellar in the Village
Madeleine quickly turned into a New Yorker
After brunch at Marsailles on Sunday we headed to Union Square for some shopping and we started at the Flat Iron Building.
The oldest sky scraper in NYC
Jacob being stupid and Mike laughing.....I have several of these.... :)
We all enjoyed browsing around in Eataly (a wonderful Italian grocery)
We both love the Village
Washington Square Park
Maddie is really good at clapping and will say "Yeah!" and clap for herself now.
Sunday was Jacob's birthday so we had cupcakes before we all went out to celebrate at Pepolino's!
Before we left for dinner a storm rolled in from New Jersey
We had a wonderful weekend and were so blessed to not only get family time but to also have time with Mike and Sarah. We love New York and I think Madeleine does too!!
