Hi all!
Jacob and I are happy to announce that we brought Madeleine home on Tuesday 6/14 around noon. Here is a recap of the events leading up to us bringing her home:
Sunday (6/12) we hung out with Maddie in the CCN and visited with grandparents. We said a lot of prayers that day that we would get to take our baby home as it was definitely taking an emotional toll on both Jacob and I.
After feeding her Sunday morning, Jacob supplemented with formula

She is so alert and really makes eye contact and watches you after eating. We were so ready to see her without the IV!
Late Sunday night I was discharged and we headed over to the Ronald McDonald House, which is just in a different part of the hospital. Rather than being 1 floor away from Madeleine, we were several floors and a long walk. We were happy to meet Ronald when we arrived.
On Monday (6/13) we woke up so excited to learn that her CRP was 7.7 down from 29 the day before. Heck yeah....that is OUR daughter! We actually found out about 6:45 am when Jacob went up to the Critical Care Nursery (CCN) to drop off what I had pumped. We needed to go back to sleep until around 8 to get up, shower, and be to CCN to feed her at 9. It was so hard to go back to sleep!
Here is Maddie hanging out with daddy wearing the outfit Mike and Sarah sent all the way from Scotland.
My mom had been there with us through it all in the delivery room and is still here this week helping us with food and laundry and such. We don't know what we would do without her!
This is the CCN where Maddie was from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. You can see the monitor she was hooked up to and the cover is over her face to block out the light.
We woke up and found out the news Tuesday (6/14) again at 6:45 am that her CRP was under 5 so she would be discharged!!
We were finally able to leave around noon. Here Maddie is in her car seat for the first time!
Finally HOME!
We had lots of animals waiting on us :)
Tatum and Oliver were curious to meet their little sister. They have most all gotten over the idea of someone new in the house except Oliver who still is bothered when she makes noise and it startles him. For the most part, everyone is adjusting very well.
Pictures of Maddie's bath coming soon!
